It is no surprise that the pandemic has permanently altered the lives and mental health of millions of individuals. The lack of physical interaction left many with increased feelings of anxiety and depression. Although I personally have struggled with an anxiety disorder my entire life, the pandemic brought about new challenges for me. Mental health is a powerful, invisible battle. It pays no mind to age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status. Everyone has been through or knows someone who has been through mental health hardships.
This is why R.O.S.E.S., Inc. matters. From the moment I heard about this organization and its mission, I felt an immediate connection. ROSES is an organization specifically devoted to improving the overall well-being of young people through scholarships and counseling. I have experienced firsthand the life-altering impacts of mental health but I have also seen my friends, classmates and peers struggle. ROSES. is dedicated to providing immediate relief to individuals through free counseling while additionally protecting future generations by providing scholarships to individuals with a career goal of working in the mental health field.
It can be very hard for a struggling individual to open up and ask for help. It is crucial that when someone does speak out about their struggles, there are resources available to them. ROSES wants to help eliminate the barriers of accessibility and affordability through free counseling to those in need. Through their scholarships, ROSES is providing the opportunity and empowering individuals to pursue a much-needed career in mental health. The world is always changing and evolving but the need for mental health professionals remains constant. I am honored to work as an Intern for ROSES and help support this amazing cause.
